Under the direction of the Senior Manager of Reimbursement & Business Analytics, the Data Visualization Analyst is responsible for developing the front-end components of business intelligence tools in support of strategic initiatives, business development, and standard operations for Revenue Cycle. This position is part of a team that produces daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly results and analysis to evaluate Revenue Cycle performance and support decision making. As SMG continues to expand its use of BI tools to drive effective decision making, the Data Visualization Analyst will support the Business Analytics team in using BI tools such as Tableau to develop and enhance the SMG’s reporting capabilities. The ideal candidate will be extremely well-organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, under tight deadlines.


• Conceptualize, design and develop data visualization solutions that synthesize complex data concepts into clear communications for SMG Revenue Cycle, Operations, and Finance leadership, and key stakeholders
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Business Analytics team to understand business intelligence needs; produce and deliver solutions that support those needs
• Support reporting needs of Revenue Cycle Operations by transitioning daily, weekly, monthly reporting deliverables from legacy tools (MS Excel) to new BI tools such as Tableau
• Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, and subject matter experts to identify useful and strategically relevant insights
• Possess a strong sense of visual design and interest in creative visualization work
• Assist in developing best practices for data presentation and sharing across the organization
• Able to meet deadlines of multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and collaborate with team members
• Manage data input from multiple platforms; synchronize and normalize data to ensure consistency in analysis
• Assist in developing best practices for data presentation and sharing across the organization
• Ability to learn new tools and new ways of displaying data
• Consistently use creativity to push past line graphs, bar charts and tables
• Use tact, sensitivity and professionalism in communicating effectively and respectfully with the leadership team, physicians, co-workers and others

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, or Business Management
• Experience with business intelligence tools required (preferably Tableau and/or Qlik)
• 5+ years of total experience with business intelligence, data/financial analysis, or design
• Experience in working with and developing business intelligence tools using healthcare data
• Experience synchronizing and analyzing multiple data sources; ability to synthesize data to answer key business questions
• Strong analytical, trouble-shooting and communication skills
• Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Advanced user experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
• Experience with Axiom and Athena preferred; Cerner and Meditech experience a plus
