Steward Medical Group (SMG), Inc. is Steward's multi-specialty group practice with over 4,500 employees including over 1,800 physicians and advanced practitioners. SMG operates approximately 450 practice locations throughout Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, and provides more than 4 million patient encounters per year.

-Individual outpatient nutrition counseling sessions, approx. 30-60 minutes each
-Screening and assessing pre-operative bariatric patients in terms of surgical candidacy, nutritional status, readiness to change, etc.
-Documenting all nutrition visits and nutrition interventions using electronic medical record and maintains paperwork consistent with department and regulatory agency requirements.
-Providing appropriate documentation to referring healthcare providers, as needed.
-Developing, implementing and coordinating bariatric nutrition education programs to optimize post-operative outcomes
-Developing and updating nutrition care manual for bariatrics on an ongoing basis
-Developing and updating nutrition education materials for outpatient setting
-Assessing and documenting patient compliance
-Updating online database and tracking patient outcomes
-Reviewing and interpreting pre- and post-operative laboratory values and adjusting patient intake and supplementation protocols, as needed
-Submitting charges using Medatpus, ensuring nutrition visits are billed and coded correctly
-Participating in weekly multidisciplinary bariatric patient care rounds
-Regular correspondence and collaboration with CWC physicians and nurses, psychiatric team, etc.
-Evaluating and assessing nutritional labs and prescribing food and nutrients, as needed, under the direction of MDs
-Maintaining timely follow-up correspondence with patients via email and/or telephone, as needed.
-Reviews literature, professional journals, and attends conferences and programs to update skills and continuously improve and maintain professional competence
-Correspondence with SEMC billing department to ensure optimal hospital reimbursement for nutritional services rendered
-Developing and delivering nutritional inservices to hospital staff, as needed
-Precepting dietetic interns in outpatient setting
-Individual post-operative nutrition evaluation/education during patient hospital admission prior to discharge
-Development and delivery of monthly bariatric support groups
-Assistance with fund-raising efforts at SEMC to increase presence and utilization of CWC program and bariatric patient volume
-Maintains Registered Dietitian certification, and state licensure
-Maintaining active registration status with Massachusetts Dietetic Association, and America College of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons
-Maintaining continuing education credits (CEUs) in accordance with ADA Commission on Dietetic
Registration (CDR) and Commonwealth of Massachusetts licensing bureau to maintain active registration/license status.

Bachelors in Nutrition required; Masters in Nutrition preferred
Completion of an American Dietetic Association program preferred.
Licensed MA Registered Dietitian required.
