Steward Medical Group (SMG), Inc. is Steward's multi-specialty group practice with over 4,500 employees including over 1,800 physicians and advanced practitioners. SMG operates approximately 450 practice locations throughout Massachusetts, Southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas, and provides more than 4 million patient encounters per year.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Finance, the Manager is responsible to manage the daily department operations and oversee the FP&A analysts. The Manager is involved with overseeing the quality of all employees’ performance, resolving conflicts within the workplace and completing most administrative tasks. A Manager may also be directly involved with the hiring and firing of employees. Manager oversees FP&A workflow and ensures all work is on track and completed timely. Manager is to update Senior Manager of department on the team’s progress through weekly check-ins. In addition, the Manager will have additional day to day operational responsibilities including budgeting and reporting on assigned markets.

Responsibilities also include:
o Accomplish work via technical and administrative direction of Sr. Managers/Directors.
o Planning, prioritizing and scheduling work, assigning work, amending or rejecting completed work, assuring requirements are met, adjusting staffing levels, appraising performance and recommending performance standards and ratings.
o Reviewing and approving time off requests and timecards.
o Documenting staff issues and taking minor disciplinary actions if necessary.
o Conduct 1:1 meetings with staff to review workload/flows and update department processes and update performance reports.
o Attend Operational meetings and present monthly financial reports. Send follow up email of outcome of meetings to Sr. Manager/Director soon after the meeting.
o Gather and analyze information and reports to provide information to the Manager/Director on the team’s progress in meetings or through regular email contact or reports.
o Should a conflict arise, the Manager must work with staff to solve the conflict quickly and effectively and update the Sr. Manager/Director on the progress. Escalate if unable to resolve and/or need assistance.
o Log all projects/tasks and track/monitor all department assignments. Coordinate follow-up meetings with individual staff as needed to ensure all ‘assignments’ are being worked and to ensure all deadlines are met.
o Work with Sr. Manager/Director to review all projects/tasks and communicates to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, deadlines, and issues for review.
o Ensure all Support Tickets are assigned and worked timely by the team.
o Train or arrange training for team members in team-building and teamwork, as well as in technical areas needed to accomplish team goals.
o Maintain reference materials, project files, and background documents; hand down policies, procedures and instructions from the Sr. Manager/Director; keep current on policies and directives to answer team members' questions.
o Ensure the strategic plan, mission vision and values are communicated to the team and are integrated in its goals, objectives and work.
o Estimate and report on the team's progress meeting deadlines and make sure all members participate in planning team goals and objectives.
o Work with Sr. Manager/Director in assessing team weaknesses and strengths.
o Work with Managers / Senior Leader to develop process improvement to policies, procedures and the business work plan.
o Partner with Practice Director and Senior Leadership to analyze budget variances on a monthly basis.
o Partner with Practice Directors and Senior Leadership to create annual operating budgets.
o Recognize and recommend operational improvement as needed.
o Assist with other departmental project assignments per management request.
o Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Management or related field preferred and 3-5 years experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 2-3 years of finance experience in professional healthcare setting, preferred.
• Leadership Skills in managing a team.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must possess strong analytical skills, accurate typing and computer skills; including Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multi-task and work under stressful conditions.
• Ability to work in a busy office environment with frequent deadlines and interruptions.
• Able to adjust to changes and adapt to new processes.
• Ability to research issues and to recommend feasible solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of and ability to use computers and related software including MS Excel, Word and ERP systems.
